Archie Bradley improbably walked off the field under his own power after being struck in the face with a line drive off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez on Tuesday night, narrowly avoiding a potentially catastrophic injury.

More than an hour after the game, though, Gonzalez was still shaken over his fateful second-inning plate appearance.

"For me, as a hitter, it was a nightmare," Gonzalez told MLB.com's Barry M. Bloom after his club's 12-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. "It's something you don't try to do, especially to a guy like him, who is really young and is starting his career. It's devastating. It just ruined my night. It just ruined everybody's night.

"It's sad, but at the same time there's nothing you can do about it. You're just trying to hit the ball. It just really (stinks) when you see a guy go down like that."

Bradley, who made his MLB debut earlier this month, laid on the ground for several minutes after being hit, but the 22-year-old right-hander never lost consciousness and showed no signs of a concussion.

Despite suffering some swelling in his sinus cavity, Bradley's initial prognosis was still "very positive," according to Diamondbacks trainer Ken Crenshaw, and the young hurler was even able to poke fun at his swollen right cheek on Twitter after the game.
