When New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said his philosophy is to stockpile draft picks via trade, most assumed he was talking about trading down from the No. 6 spot.

That may not be the case. Maccagnan could be eyeing the bounty of picks he would get by shipping one of his star players out of town.

Maccagnan's Jets have been approached by at least two teams interested in trading for defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter calls it a situation to watch as the draft approaches.

Wilkerson was selected with the 30th pick in the 2011 draft and quickly became one of the league's most disruptive defensive linemen. He is set to earn $6.96 million in final year of his rookie contract and is believed to be seeking a hefty raise.

Wilkerson is staying away from voluntary workouts, perhaps as a negotiating tactic, but Maccagnan doesn't sound concerned about it.

"I don't really want to comment on if I'd like him to be here or not be here," Maccagnan said at a recent news conference. "I'm sure Mo is doing a good job, wherever he is, working out. But again, these are all voluntary, so he's not required to be here for them."

Brian Costello of the New York Post is reporting the Jets do not intend to trade Wilkerson and would have to be blown away by a deal to part with him.
