Hall of Famer Marcel Pronovost dies at age 84

The hockey world lost another great Monday. 

Former Detroit Red Wing and Toronto Maple Leaf defenseman Marcel Pronovost died at the age of 84

Pronovost played 20 seasons in the NHL between 1950 and 1970, tallying 88 goals and 345 points in 1,206 games.  He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a player in 1978.

The former blue-liner won five Stanley Cups during his 20 seasons, four with the Red Wings before capturing his final cup as a member of the '67 Maple Leafs.

Pronovost went on to coach in the NHL and the World Hockey Association including 104 games with the Buffalo Sabres. He later worked for the NHL Central Scouting Bureau and as a scout for the New Jersey Devils

The Hall of Famer will be remembered as one of the great defenseman of his era.
