Giants' Eli Manning not concerned about contract extension

Philip Rivers isn't the only marquee quarterback heading into the final year of his deal.

New York Giants signal caller Eli Manning will see his contract expire after the 2015 season and there's no indication an extension will be completed before the season gets underway.

In typical Manning fashion, he isn't letting the uncertainty of his future with the franchise get to him.

"I’ve known a lot of people who have gone into their last year, my brother went into the last year of his contract twice, and that’s just part of it," Manning told Tom Rock of Newsday.

"I look at it as, hey, I signed a six-year contract (extension in 2009) and I never once mentioned the contract to them or anything, or tried to get extended. I’m going to play out those six years and hopefully my play and the success of the team will dictate the future of me being in New York."

Without a deal in place past 2015, it's reasonable for Giants fans to be concerned this could be Manning's final year with the team. That said, after leading the organization to a pair of Super Bowls and New York having no other suitable option on the roster at quarterback, you can bet the Giants won't let that happen.

There are also several reasons the 34-year-old would want to stick around. Manning is coming off his best statistical season since 2011 under offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and what pivot wouldn't want to play out the remainder of their career throwing to Odell Beckham Jr.?
