Rays' Archer doesn't expect any bad blood to carry over in start vs. Blue Jays

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Chris Archer doesn't believe any bad blood from his team's last series with the Toronto Blue Jays will spill over during his start Sunday.

"I hope not," Archer told reporters. "Because it seemed more like a misunderstanding than anything. I think they assumed I was intentionally trying to hit people, but you go back and look at the situations where it got away, there was no way."

Archer and Blue Jays right-hander Mark Buehrle could be seen exchanging words from their respective dugouts on April 16. Archer had hit a pair of Toronto batters earlier in the game before Blue Jays reliever Marco Estrada retaliated in the eighth inning by plunking Rays third baseman Evan Longoria in the leg.

Coincidentally, Buehrle will start for the Blue Jays on Sunday.
