Ravens' Dennis Pitta unsure if he'll be able to play in 2015

Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta is unsure if he'll be able to suit up for the 2015 campaign after undergoing surgery on his hip in the offseason.

Pitta is taking part in the Ravens' workout program, but the team decided it's up to the 29-year-old on whether he'll return for another season.

"It's still too early. I'm just happy to be back here working with the guys. I'm feeling good in workouts. We'll just take it one day at a time," Pitta said to ESPN.

Injuries are a paramount concern for Pitta as he's played in a combined seven games over the past two seasons. Pitta suffered a season-ending hip injury in Week 3 of last season and Owen Daniels took the overwhelming majority of snaps at tight end. Daniels joined the Denver Broncos in free agency this spring.

The last time Pitta played a full 16 was in 2012, where he helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl.

"We still have some time to be able to assess where I'm at," Pitta said. "I sure hope that I'll be on the field next year. That's my hope, that's my goal. We'll just see if we can get there."

Baltimore will have to turn to the sub-replacement level duo of Crockett Gillmore and Phillip Supernaw if Pitta doesn't return for the 2015 season, and may have to address his possible vacancy in next week's draft.
