Paul McCartney asked Peyton Manning about Jaguars during SNL anniversary

Paul McCartney and Peyton Manning share a pair of initials and transcendent greatness, but learned they may have more in common during Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary event.

McCartney and Manning were both guests at the special, and shared an esoteric encounter about the Jacksonville Jaguars

Apparently, McCartney's wife's son is an avid fan of the Jaguars and the Beatles superstar asked Manning about the team at their chance meeting.

"I'm thinking there's no way a Beatle knows anything about NFL or Broncos or whatever and it turns out his wife [Nancy Shevell] has a 20-year-old son who's a die-hard Jaguars fan and wants to know how the Jaguars are going to be this year, how Blaine Bortles is going to be. Is Julius Thomas going to be good for the Jaguars?," Manning said on Nashville radio station 104.5 The Zone via ESPN's Mike DiRocco

It shouldn't be lost on anyone that Manning created an accidental portmanteau of Blake Bortles and Blaine Gabbert's names, both of whom quarterbacked the Jaguars over the past four seasons.

Manning talked about McCartney's inquiry being a larger indicator of the NFL's worldwide popularity.

"It's just that power of football that connects all people so you can have a conversation. So I told Paul he's got an open invitation to sing the anthem at a Broncos game. I can probably slide him in," Manning said.

One can only hope Sir Paul takes Manning up on his offer in the near future.
