The bruised and battered Toronto Blue Jays placed catcher Dioner Navarro on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained left hamstring.

Navarro appeared to injure himself during Tuesday's game while running the bases and was held out of the lineup Wednesday. Tests revealed some bad news, according to manager John Gibbons.

The 31-year-old joins a number of Blue Jays who are dealing with some sort of ailment. Second baseman Devon Travis and shortstop Jose Reyes are playing through rib injuries, while outfielder Jose Bautista could land on the DL with a right shoulder strain.

Josh Thole was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old catcher hit .269/.345/.269 with three RBIs in eight games with the Buffalo Bisons.
