Report: Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul won't participate in offseason workout program

The New York Giants won't be seeing defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul anytime soon.

Pierre-Paul won't be attending any of the voluntary workouts while he continues to seek a long-term deal, according to Jordan Raanan of nj.com

The pass rusher has yet to sign his franchise tag, which was placed on him by the Giants in March. If he's stuck playing under the tag for 2015, he'll earn $14.8 million.

It's understandable that the Giants have some trepidation about locking him up long term. He was spectacular in 2011, posting 16.5 sacks, but he has only shown glimpses of that elite form ever since.

There were signs of it last year, as Pierre-Paul tallied nine sacks in the final five games. At just 26 years old, it's hard to imagine New York doesn't eventually give him close to what he's after.
