Wyoming's Austin Fort to transfer in effort to remain at QB

Troy Babbit / USA TODAY Sports

A week after Wyoming quarterback Austin Fort was told he would be moved to tight end, he's decided to move on from the program entirely.

Fort has elected to transfer in order to continue playing quarterback at the college level, according to Scott Nulph of the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle.

"He going to transfer and try and play quarterback," head coach Craig Bohl said. "He embraced the tight end move for a while, but I believe he's going to a junior college and play quarterback."

Fort redshirted last season, and with five quarterbacks in spring camp, Bohl decided a position switch worked best for the team. Despite playing tight end for a couple practices, Fort decided it wasn't for him.

It's unclear which junior college he plans to attend, but he won't have to sit out a year like he would at another FBS program.

Bohl named senior Indiana transfer Cameron Coffman the Cowboys' starting quarterback on Monday.
