Adidas apologizes over baseball jersey foul

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Adidas had a brain cramp.

Not only were the warmup jerseys the company made for Mississippi State hideous, they were vulgar.

Attempting to further ignite an in-state rivalry with Ole Miss, Adidas went one step too far and is now apologizing for its decision. Among the words written on the shirt include "F--k The School Up North."

A statement Adidas issued to The Clarion-Ledger read:

We apologize to Mississippi State, their student-athletes, fans and alumni for this error. The Bulldogs' baselayer graphic today featured old artwork that was never presented to the university. This graphic does not reflect our brand values nor those of Mississippi State. We take full responsibility for this error and wish Mississippi State the best of luck during Super Bulldog Weekend.

Mississippi state athletic director Scott Stricklin also tried to resolve the situation by issuing an apology.

"This afternoon it came to my attention that a shirt provided to our baseball team by Adidas has an inappropriate phrase written on it," Stricklin said as part of a three-part tweet.

"This is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the standards and values of Mississippi State University or its athletic dept. For anyone who was offended by this shirt, as I was, please accept our apologies and rest assured that this has been rectified."

The ugly shirts were accompanied with matching cleats and sleeves.
