Kings' DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay out Friday

The Sacramento Kings are running out the string on yet another disappointing season and there's no need to put their two biggest stars in jeopardy.

Forward Rudy Gay and center DeMarcus Cousins are out for Friday's contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team announced.

Cousins has missed the past two games with a foot injury and has met with a foot specialist.

Gay, meanwhile, is not 100 percent after sustaining a concussion. However, he did play 38 minutes in the Kings' victory on Tuesday.

Both Cousins and Gay are enjoying career years despite the Kings' woeful record. Gay is averaging 21.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game with a near career-high true shooting percentage of 55.6 percent.

Cousins, in his fifth season, is averaging 24.1 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

The biggest winner in all of this is the Thunder, who are neck-and-neck with the New Orleans Pelicans in a race for eighth in the West.
