Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young pleaded no contest on Wednesday to one count of felony battery with serious bodily injury.

Arrested on July 9, 2014 and initially charged with four misdemeanors in addition to felony assault, the former second-round pick was involved in a physical altercation with another male adult, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Young will be sentenced on May 5 at Los Angeles County Superior Court and is facing up to three years in state prison.

The troubled former receiver out of Boise State has had multiple run-ins with the law, including being arrested twice in a 15-hour stretch in 2013. His father has spoken about Young's troubles and chalked up his mental health issues to concussions sustained in high school, college and the pros.
