NAC gives Anderson Silva more time to answer complaint
The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) has given Anderson Silva three additional weeks to file an answer to the commission's complaint based on multiple drug violations, Nevada Deputy Attorney General Chris Eccles told MMAjunkie.
Silva was initially scheduled to file his opposition documents by April 9, and his case was likely going to heard at the April 21 meeting. Now it's unlikely he'll face a hearing until sometime in May.
An all-time legend of the sport, Silva failed multiple drug screenings before and after his return bout with Nick Diaz at UFC 183 in January. "The Spider" was on the shelf for more than a year after suffering a gruesome leg injury against Chris Weidman in the latter part of 2013, and many speculated that he used performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) in order to help speed up the healing process.
Silva, who has denied knowingly taking PEDs, is already serving a temporary suspension pending a hearing, and could face a steep fine, and see his victory over Diaz overturned to a no contest.
