Jamal Crawford returns to Clippers on Tuesday

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Jamal Crawford will return from a 17-game absence Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Clippers take on their Staples Center co-tenant, the Lakers.

The reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year has not played since March 2 due to a calf strain. Concerns about the Clippers' lack of depth on the wing seem to have abated of late with L.A. winning 10 of 11 games and currently holding fifth place in the West.

There was concern only two weeks ago that Crawford, a 35-year-old 15-year veteran, could miss the rest of the season due to the injury. However, he appears ready to go ahead of the postseason, and the combo guard should be a proverbial shot in the arm to the team.

In 60 games this season, Crawford has averaged 16.4 points and 2.5 assists, and his per-36-minute scoring average of 21.9 is second to only Blake Griffin on the Clippers.
