Assumed coach-to-be Willie Green: 'Still have a good maybe 3 or 4 years'

Eventually, Willie Green is going to be a coach.

There's little doubt about that. It's something the Orlando Magic guard has spoken openly about and something most around the league believe will be a good fit. He's even getting the chance to mentor a very young Magic squad now, as an active player, gaining early experience for the next stage of his career.

But if the 33-year-old has his way, that next chapter will still be a few pages away.

"I definitely want to keep playing," Green told reporters recently. "I feel like I still have a good maybe three or four years - who knows? - or even more."

(Would it be too cruel to point out that Green having three or four good years left in him would bring his career total to three or four good years? Yeah, probably.)

Now in his 12th season, Green is averaging 5.8 points and 1.4 assists in 18.1 minutes while hitting 35 percent from long range. It's that 3-point stroke and his defensive chops that could warrant a look as an unrestricted free agent this summer, and it surely helps that the team acquiring him would essentially be getting another coach on the bench.
