Tiger Woods will play in Masters

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Tiger Woods is officially back on the hunt for a fifth green jacket.

The former World No. 1 and winner of 14 major championships announced on his website Friday that he will indeed be in the field at Augusta for the 79th Masters Tournament next weekend.

I'm playing in the Masters. It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there. I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing. I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support.

Woods has not taken a stroke on Tour since withdrawing from the Farmers Insurance Open in early February.

He missed the tournament last year after having surgery to repair a pinched nerve.
