Broncos acquire Gino Gradkowski from Ravens

Howard Smith / US PRESSWIRE

In an NFL offseason already full of trades, the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens have made yet another.

Addressing a significant need on their interior offensive front, the Broncos acquired center Gino Gradkowski from the Ravens on Wednesday.

The Ravens will receive a 2016 fourth-round pick as part of the deal, with a 2016 fifth-round pick being sent to Denver, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

A former fourth-round pick of the Ravens, now three years into his NFL career, Gradkowski was a 16-game starter in 2013 before being limited to a backup role this past season.

New Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak is familiar with the 26-year-old due to his season as Baltimore's offensive coordinator in 2014, and evidently sees Gradkowski as a fit for what's likely to be a zone-heavy blocking scheme.

Having found their starting center in Jeremy Zuttah, the Ravens both regain some space against the salary cap and improve a mid-round pick by trading away Gradkowski.
