Report: Chandler Jones underwent offseason surgery

Timothy T. Ludwig / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones underwent an unspecified offseason surgery and has been rehabbing at Gillette Stadium, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.

Jones was seen around the facility on crutches and it's assumed the surgery is linked to a hip injury that sidelined him for six games in 2014. The surgery is not expected to put Jones in jeopardy of missing any time in 2015.

The third year pro had six sacks and 43 tackles on the season and is the Patriots best pure pass rusher. Jones's availability in offseason workouts prior to training camp will indicate how extensive the surgery was.
