Vikings sign Terence Newman to 1-year deal reportedly worth $2.5M

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have signed veteran cornerback Terence Newman to a one-year, $2.5-million contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The deal includes $750,000 guaranteed.

Newman has spent the past three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and has extensive ties to Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer dating back to their time together in Dallas.

Zimmer was also Newman's defensive coordinator with the Bengals.

Newman will be a veteran presence in the Vikings lackluster secondary. He had one interception in 13 games last season.
