Nets' Thaddeus Young suffers hyperextended knee vs. Hornets

Bruce Kluckhohn / USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets lost forward Thaddeus Young against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, and could be without him for longer than that.

Young suffered a hyperextended left knee in the third quarter, on a play that looked like it could have been much worse. His knee buckled after he stepped on the foot of Hornets shooting guard Gerald Henderson while both were going after a loose ball.

Young crumpled to the ground clutching the knee in obvious pain. He was eventually helped to the locker room, though he appeared able to put at least some weight on his left leg.

Subsequent X-rays came back negative, and Young will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

In a game with playoff implications for both teams, Young had 11 points and four rebounds in 23 minutes before getting hurt.

The Nets escaped with a crucial 91-88 win.
