Sampdoria to sign Ajax captain Niklas Moisander, will join club at end of season

Sampdoria are getting a head start on the summer transfer window.

The club announced Wednesday that Ajax captain Niklas Moisander will make the move to Italy and sign a three-year contract at the end of the season, when his current deal with the Dutch club is set to expire.

The Finnish center-back, 29, has been with Ajax since 2012, establishing himself as a crucial figure in the squad under manager Frank de Boer.

More importantly, the announcement spawned a photo opportunity with eccentric Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero.
