Dillashaw pulled from UFC 186 with a rib injury

The much anticipated rematch between bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao at UFC 186 has been derailed by a rib injury.

Dillashaw suffered a fractured rib while training on Monday, and there is no timetable for his return, UFC president Dana White told KRRL-FM radio.

In one of the most dominant title seizures of all time, Dillashaw absolutely blitzed Renan Barao at UFC 173 in May, stunning the Brazilian in the first round with a mind-melting head kick before battering him for four and a half rounds until referee Herb Dean mercifully halted the bout at 2:26 of the final stanza.

Barao was originally set to rematch Dillashaw at UFC 177 in August, but needed to go to the hospital after a botched weight cut, and was replaced in the main event by former former Bellator champion Joe Soto.

At this point, it's unknown who, if anyone, will replace Dillashaw against Barao, and the flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi will more than likely slide into the main event slot.
