Rory McIlroy attempted to get some practice in at Augusta National Golf Club ahead of next month's Masters Tournament, but was met by a star-studded trio at the club's gym.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning all were working out at Augusta National on Friday morning, much to McIlroy's astonishment.

McIlroy has never won the Masters, the lone major that has eluded the 25-year-old superstar.

Clearly impressed, McIlroy spoke about his chance encounter with the three Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks.

"Friday morning, I got in the gym about six,'' McIlroy said Wednesday to ESPN's Bob Harig. "Brady walked in at 6:15, and the Mannings walked in at 6:30. That was my time to leave."

McIlroy is the world's number-one ranked golfer, and captured PGA Player of the Year honors last year.

"I was just surprised (Brady) was in there; the Mannings, too. It's their offseason. It was to see all those guys in the gym before their season starts. They're so dedicated and committed to what they do, especially those two guys, Peyton and Tom, they're both in their mid-30s and they want to prolong their careers as much as they can," McIlroy said.

McIlroy is set to participate in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and being in the company of fellow greatness may propel him to victory.
