The reason for Jason Worilds' retirement could be becoming clearer.

Worilds is stepping away from the game to work for Jehovah's Witnesses, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports believed that Worilds was calling it quits because of a spiritual awakening, but Worilds seemed puzzled by that term.

The Pittsburgh Steelers believe Worilds is serious about his decision.

“We respect his decision to retire and thank him for his five years in Pittsburgh. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” the team said in a statement.

Worilds is still only 27 years old and could always decide to make a comeback down the line.
