Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Booth took head coach Peter Horachek's comments about a lack of effort Saturday to heart when he faced the New York Islanders on Monday.
After being shelled 6-1 by the St. Louis Blues, Peter Horachek told his team they didn't compete hard enough, harsh criticism for any player.
Booth showed no lack of effort as he split the Islanders' defenders for a backhand goal to give the Leafs a 1-0 lead.
The goal was Booth's fourth of the season and his third in three games.
