Report: Jets stop other free agent pursuits in hopes of landing Darrelle Revis

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets appear to be all in in their pursuit of All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots declined to pick up Revis' $20-million contract option and the 29-year-old superstar is slated to become a free agent Tuesday.

New York has put the rest of its free agency pursuits on hold, in hopes of bringing Revis back to the organization for the second time. Revis spent the first six seasons of his career with the Jets (2007-2012).

The Jets have made their interest in Revis no secret.

"Darrelle is a great player. I'd love Darrelle to come back," Jets owner Woody Johnson told ESPN's Rich Cimini on Dec. 29.

No tampering charges were filed against Johnson and the Jets.

In his first season with the Patriots, Revis returned to All-Pro form and was a vital component of the team's Super Bowl victory. Revis recorded 47 tackles, one forced fumble and two interceptions.
