One Chandler in, one Chandler out for Mavericks Thursday

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

One Chandler is better than zero Chandlers for the Dallas Mavericks

Center Tyson Chandler will play Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers after sitting out the last three games with a left hip flexor.

Meanwhile, forward Chandler Parsons remains out with a left ankle sprain and Thursday will be his fifth straight game on the sidelines. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said Thursday that Parsons will also sit Friday for their game against the Golden State Warriors.

"It's been steady, but it hasn't been lightning fast," Carlisle told reporters regarding Parsons' progress.

The Mavs have missed both players, going 1-2 in their last three, including a loss to the Brooklyn Nets where Dallas surrendered 46 points in the paint and were handily out-rebounded. Getting the NBA's fifth-leading rebounder in Tyson Chandler back Thursday is good news for them on that front.
