We've seen renderings of what the stadium might look like if the St. Louis Rams relocate to Los Angeles, but what about if the Rams reach a deal to stay in St. Louis?

The Edward Jones Dome is old and, frankly, unspectacular. The Rams have made it clear they want to build a replacement.

The city of St. Louis aims to do just that. Newly released renderings show a proposed open-air, waterfront stadium that could play a vital role in keeping the Rams in town.

The Rams have tried for years to get a new stadium built in St. Louis with no success, so some may view the above images as a pipe dream. Then again, deadlines spur action and the Rams are closer to relocation than any NFL team in recent memory.

Perhaps it won't be long before football fans in St. Louis have a shiny new stadium to call home.
