David Cobb not expected to participate in Minnesota pro day

David Cobb's quad strain is improving, but not enough for him to work out at Minnesota's pro day on Monday.

The running back was injured running the 40-yard dash at the combine and his father told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that the ailment will force him to watch the pro day from the sidelines.

"He will be in attendance, but not participate," Cobb’s father wrote in an email. "As I understand the situation, he will have an individual workout sometime in early April."

Cobb, a projected third-round pick, ran for more than 1,600 yards with 13 touchdowns for the Golden Gophers in 2014.

Scouts will still have reason to attend the pro day, though. Maxx Williams will be showing off his skills and is regarded by many as the best tight end in the draft.
