Defensive end Carl Lawson, who has been sidelined for the past year with a torn ACL, will be back in action for spring practice.

Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp revealed Friday at the Minority Coaches Association of Georgia clinic that he expects Lawson to participate in spring practice, according to Ryan Black of The Ledger-Enquirer

"(The coaches) haven't made those decisions. Our doctors will make those decisions," said Muschamp. "He's moving around extremely well. We expect him to partake in a good bit of spring. How much will be determined by our doctors."

Lawson tore the ACL in his left knee during spring practice last year in the final week. He redshirted after having surgery to repair the tear and rehabbing in the fall to try and get back out on the field.

"Carl's doing well. He's improving every day. He will be able to participate this spring," said Rodney Garner, the Tigers' defensive line coach. "Obviously, we've got to be smart about how we use him. But he's doing well with the winter workout program thus far."

Lawson recorded 20 tackles and four sacks playing in every game in the 2013 season.
