Redskins release Stephen Bowen

The Washington Redskins announced Friday that defensive end Stephen Bowen has been released.
Bowen signed with the Redskins in 2011 after spending the previous five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He appeared in 50 games for Washington over the past four seasons, recording 96 tackles and seven sacks.
Releasing Bowen saves the Redskins $5.5 million against the salary cap.
