Thunder's Steve Novak out 2 weeks after appendectomy

Russ Isabella / USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without recently acquired small forward Steve Novak for at least the next two weeks, after he underwent an appendectomy Tuesday, according to ESPN's Royce Young.

Earlier in the season, when the Thunder were struggling just to put five healthy guys in uniform, this might have been an issue, but at this point, it's not likely to affect them much.

Save for a minor procedure to ease discomfort in Kevin Durant's screw-repaired right foot, the Thunder are healthy, and, along with Novak, they acquired additional wing depth and shooting at the trade deadline in Kyle Singler.

Novak is averaging 2.1 points in 5.1 minutes per game, while knocking down 45.7 percent of his 3-point attempts. He's appeared in one game with the Thunder since coming over from the Utah Jazz, playing nine minutes and going 0-of-2 from the field at the tail end of a blowout win.
