Kirilenko waived by 76ers, reportedly eyeing return to Europe

The Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with Andrei Kirilenko, announcing Saturday they've waived the veteran forward.

Philadelphia's decision to cut ties with Kirilenko hardly comes as a surprise, as the 34-year-old hasn't suited up for the 76ers since being acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in December. He's been on the team's suspended list since early January.

Difficulties regarding his wife's pregnancy was apparently the primary reason why the 2004 All-Star has largely been absent from the court this season.

Although Kirilenko has played in just seven games this season - and not once since Nov. 13 - ESPN's Marc Stein reports there would be no shortage of interested suitors for his services provided he wants to continue his NBA career.

Stein, however, said that Kirilenko is eyeing a return to Europe to play. Kirilenko, owed $3.3 million for the season, would have to clear waivers first, which is likely.

Kirilenko hasn't seen consistent playing time since 2012-13 as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves when he averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 31.8 minutes. He was limited to 45 games with the Nets a season ago.
