All-Star Saturday Night Odds: LaVine remains enormous Dunk Contest favorite

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

As anticipation has grown for All-Star Saturday Night, so too has the public's faith in Minnesota TImberwolves rookie Zach LaVine.

With teammates promising LaVine has some new generation stuff that will make you faint, he's become an even bigger favorite in the eyes of oddsmakers. After opening with a -150 money line - an implied probability of winning of 60 percent - he's inched to -170, by far the heaviest favorite in any event.

Apologies to Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Oladipo and Mason Plumlee, but they may all be playing for second place.

Player Odds
LaVine -170
Antetokounmpo +290
Oladipo +350
Plumlee +900

Steph Curry opened as a favorite in the Three-Point Shootout when the field was just five, but he's been passed by Kyle Korver with the loaded field's expansion to eight. This is definitely the night's toughest event to predict, as the field is loaded with some of the greatest shooters of all time.

Player Odds 2014-15 3FG% Career 3FG%
Korver +300 52.3% 43.3%
Curry +325 39.9% 43.3%
Thompson +350 44.0% 41.6%
Redick +650 43.6% 39.6%
Belinelli +700 38.1% 39.4%
Irving +700 41.4% 38.7%
Harden +750 38.3% 37.1%
Matthews +900 39.8% 39.5%

Curry and teammate Klay Thompson, for what it's worth, both think the smart money is on themselves.

The general public doesn't seem too enthused by the two earlier Saturday night competitions, with the Shooting Stars Challenge and the Skills Challenge serving as appetizers. Still, throwing a few dollars down can make those events a little more entertaining, and there appears to be some value in two-time champion Team Bosh.

Team Odds
Curry +180
Westbrook +210
Bosh +270
Millsap +290
Player Odds
Teague +400
Thomas +400
Lowry +450
Burke +475
Knight +500
Beverley +550
Payton +700
Schroder +800

theScore picks: LaVine -170, Redick +650, Team Bosh +270, Schroder +800
