Nuggets' McGee out at least 2 more games with flu

JaVale McGee can't catch a break.

The Denver Nuggets' center has played only 16 games this season as he continues to battle soreness stemming from a fractured left tibia that limited him to only five games last season.

Now, less than a week into his latest return to the Nuggets' lineup, McGee will miss at least the next two games, as the team has sent him home from their road-trip to recover from flu-like symptoms. McGee also missed Denver's Tuesday night loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Nuggets are in Boston on Wednesday and Detroit on Friday before returning home to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

McGee is averaging 5.3 points, three rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 12.1 minutes. He's logged just 272 total minutes over the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year, $44-million contract extension in 2012 and is still owed $12 million for next season.
