Hardwood Highlight of the Night: DeRozan's patience, drive opens up 3 for Ross

Nick Turchiaro / USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors weren't able to put together many runs in another disappointing home loss on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets.

One of the few runs came late in the first quarter, and it included this Terrence Ross three-pointer.

The Raptors' possession begins with Kyle Lowry grabbing the defensive rebound and initiating what looks like a potential fast break.

The Nets get back quickly, seemingly anticipating a Lowry drive to the basket, but Lowry leaves a drop pass for DeMar DeRozan.

Rather than rushing the possession and forcing a bad shot, as the Raptors did too many times during the game, DeRozan surveys the scene before attacking Joe Johnson and the middle of the floor.

As you can see above, the action between Lowry and DeRozan has drawn the Nets' attention away from the weak side, particularly Jarrett Jack, who lets Ross creep into the right corner unattended.

The result is one of Ross' five 3-pointers, three of his team-high 23 points, and one of DeRozan's six assists:
