Toronto FC trades Dominic Oduro to Montreal for allocation money

Following the recent signings of Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco to big-money contracts, it was always likely that Toronto FC was going to unload some attacking players to make room for the new duo.

Tuesday, they did just that.

The club announced that they have brokered a deal with the Montreal Impact, sending winger Dominic Oduro to their fellow Canadian side in exchange for allocation money.

“This deal provided an opportunity to acquire financial assets that will allow us to continue to strengthen our squad,” general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said of the move. “We’d like to thank Dom for his contributions to our club and wish him all the best.”

The 29-year-old Ghanaian made 24 appearances for Toronto after being acquired via trade from Columbus in June of last year, scoring two goals and adding five assists.
