George Hill scores 13 in return but Pacers come up just short

Steve Mitchell / USA Today Sports

The Indiana Pacers, in the midst of a season from hell, got a smidgeon of good news on Friday when point guard George Hill was able to suit up against the Miami Heat

Hill, who came into the season riding a wave of positive energy after putting himself through a rigorous offseason training program and blowing away team president Larry Bird with his improvement, has been limited to just six games thanks to knee, quad and, most recently, groin injuries.

Hill returned from his latest, after an 11-game absence, and played as well as could have been expected, dropping 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting in 20 minutes off the bench. He also made two clutch buckets down the stretch to keep the game within reach.

Unfortunately for the woebegone Pacers, no sooner had Hill returned than shooting guard C.J. Miles went out with a groin injury of his own.

The Pacers showed some serious grit in coming back from a 17-point halftime deficit, but ultimately fell just short, losing 89-87 after C.J. Watson missed a potential game-tying jumper.

It was their seventh straight loss.
