Report: 50-50 chance Orioles sign free-agent Rasmus

Flipping a coin could be the best way to determine if Colby Rasmus will don the orange and white in 2015.

The Baltimore Orioles have a 50-50 chance of signing the free-agent outfielder to a deal, according to a club source close to Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reported Friday (see stack below) that talks were gaining steam between Rasmus and the O's.

The Orioles are hoping to ink Rasmus to a one-year deal as they continue to search for a left-handed bat to replace Nick Markakis, who signed a multi-year deal with the Atlanta Braves. Manager Buck Showalter personally met with Rasmus at his Alabama home to make a pitch and reportedly left a very favorable impression.

The Orioles also finalized a one-year pact with Delmon Young on Friday, which fills one of the vacancies in the outfield left by Nelson Cruz and Markakis.
