In desperate need of offense, the Boston Bruins are calling up a rookie.

David Pastrnak has been recalled from the AHL following a stint at the World Junior Hockey Championship, as first reported by Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe.

Pastrnak was a bright spot for a Czech Republic squad that fell to rival Slovakia in the quarterfinals at the Under-20 tournament, scoring a goal (while coming close on several other opportunities) and adding six assists in seven games.

The 18-year-old, selected 25th overall at the 2014 NHL Draft, appeared in five games for the Bruins earlier this season, registering one assist. In 23 games down in Providence, he recorded 10 goals and 27 points, good for third among all AHL rookies.

Pastrnak is set to travel with the Bruins for Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, although his status for that game is as of yet unknown. The big club sits outside the playoff picture, and ranks 20th in goal scoring with 104 through 40 games.
