Mavericks activate Felton for 1st time this season

Matthew Emmons / USA Today Sports

About six months after acquiring him in an offseason trade, the Dallas Mavericks will finally have Raymond Felton in uniform.

The Mavericks have activated Felton for their Sunday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Dwain Price of the Star-Telegram

Felton missed a chunk of time to start the season due to an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason, then had to serve a four-game suspension related to gun possession charges from last year.

He's remained inactive since, with the Mavericks presumably wary of tossing him into game action given how little play he has under his belt from the past few months.

But with reserve guards Jameer Nelson and Jae Crowder having been shipped off to the Boston Celtics in the Rajon Rondo trade, and center Tyson Chandler sitting out with back spasms, the Mavs had to fill out their active roster somehow.

Felton may not play, but at least he'll get to shed his street clothes. Last season with the New York Knicks, Felton averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 assists in 31 minutes per game.
