Canucks' Hansen will not return as a precaution following collapse on the bench

Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen collapsed on the bench following a collision with Calgary Flames defender Dennis Wideman on Saturday.

It was a scary scene, but it would appear that Hansen won't need the sort of medical attention that would require him to go to the hospital.

"Our last update we suggested that it was possible that Jannik Hansen could be taken by ambulance to hospital," Sportsnet's Scott Oake reported. "But now we understand that he will remain in the Canucks room under examination."

Hansen, 28, has scored five goals and 13 total points in 31 games. He will not return to Saturday's as a precaution, the Canucks announced.

UPDATE

It would seem that Hansen is ambulatory, and undergoing further evaluation.

"Hansen was spotted walking across the hallway to the Canucks workout room where we would expect he's undergoing some lite-physical tests," Oake reported further during Sportsnet's broadcast of Saturday's game. "But he's up and (walking) around under his own power..."
