Report: Cowboys leaving playing status up to DeMarco Murray

James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

It appears the decision on whether DeMarco Murray will play this week will be left up to the running back himself.

The Dallas Cowboys will be allowing Murray to determine his playing status for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Murray's high pain threshold makes it quite likely he'll opt to suit up.

Whether Murray sees his usual number of touches would be tough to predict, but all indications are that he'll have a good chance to play just days after undergoing hand surgery.

The league's leading rusher through 14 games, Murray's availability would go a long way toward the Cowboys' chances of taking down the Colts and holding onto their slim lead in the NFC East.
