Denny Hamlin: Leads Opening Michigan Practice

Hamlin was fastest in opening practice for the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. He turned a fast lap of 202.230 mph.

Analysis:

Hamlin led a Joe Gibbs Racing assault on the top of the scoring pylon in Friday's first session at MIS. He was one of three Gibbs' drivers to crack the Top 5 speeds of the practice. Hamlin edged Kurt Busch for the fastest lap of this hour-long session. The veteran driver of the No. 11 Toyota appears to have Top-10 speed for Sunday's Consumers Energy 400.
