Celtics' Turner on Hawks' Korver: 'He can’t guard to save his life'

Evan Turner wasn't a fan of the officiating in Boston's 109-105 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.

He's also not a fan of Kyle Korver's defense.

“They started pressuring and it’s tough to score when you have two hands inside your jersey as well,” Turner said after the Celtics blew a 23-point lead against the Hawks, as reported by The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.

“At the same time, I got a foul call on Korver and they said I pushed him and tripped him and he just fell," Turner added. "He can’t guard to save his life and he’s grabbing Marcus Thornton and he’s grabbing me and he has no business being in the game on the defensive end but what can you possibly do if they’re allowed to have their hands on you?”

Well someone's salty.

Korver has shed his reputation as only a pure shooter and off-ball threat in recent years, becoming a much better defender for one. His prolific 3-point shooting will always be his calling card and he'll never be a great defender, but he's nowhere near the defensive liability Turner and other misinformed observers believe him to be.

The irony is that Korver works hard on the defensive end to get the most out of what he has, while Turner provides little resistance due to his spotty defensive effort and lack of elite athleticism.

There's a reason Turner wasn't a very highly sought after free agent this summer, so perhaps he should save his criticism of players who are vastly superior to him.
