Pelicans waive Miller, Young, reportedly targeting Cunningham
With two open rosters spots in hand, the New Orleans Pelicans have their sights set on free agent power forward Dante Cunningham, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
The Pelicans announced earlier Sunday that they had waived forwards Darius Miller and Patric Young, thus cutting their roster down to 13 players.
Cunningham is a serviceable bench big. He played for the Minnesota Timberwolves over the last two seasons, averaging 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game over that time. He is a solid rebounder and has shown to be a decent midrange shooter.
However, Cunningham has also been embroiled in the midst of some legal troubles. Earlier in April, Cunningham was charged with domestic assault over a series of terroristic text messages to his girlfriend. The charges were later dropped, but the fallout from the case left Cunningham without an NBA contract this offseason.
