Atletico Madrid crushes Olympiacos, advances to Round of 16

Last season's Champions League finalists are one step closer to making another appearance in Europe's biggest club match.

Atletico Madrid hammered Olympiacos 4-0 on Wednesday, with Mario Mandzukic's hat trick doing the damage to book the club's place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Diego Simeone and company will close out the group stages with an away fixture against Juventus, knowing that a draw will be enough to see them advance as Group A winners - which should, in theory, allow them the benefit of playing a weaker opponent in the Round of 16.
