Jamie McMurray: Fifth-Place at Charlotte Motor Speedway

McMurray finished fifth in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.

Analysis:

The Chip Ganassi Racing veteran kept his championship hopes alive with a good performance in the Bank of America 500. McMurray started 18th on the grid and used lots of good racing to break into the Top 10. He led 4 laps between the end of stage 1 and beginning of stage 2, but otherwise was a Top-10 driver most of the day. McMurray earned just his third Top-5 finish of the season when the checkered flag was displayed. He now sits eighth overall in the Chase standings at 62 points behind leader Martin Truex Jr.
