2002 - Pistons acquire Richard Hamilton

Coming off a 50-win season that had already returned the Pistons to relevance, Detroit acquires 20-point scorer Richard "Rip" Hamilton months after signing free agent point guard Chauncey Billups and drafting forward Tayshaun Prince.

Jerry Stackhouse heads from Detroit to Washington in the six-player deal, while the Pistons - now led by Hamilton, Billups, Prince and Ben Wallace (with Rasheed Wallace still to come) - begin a run of six straight conference finals appearances that includes an NBA championship and two Finals appearances.

In nine seasons with the Pistons, Hamilton averages 18.4 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds, makes three All-Star games, and climbs to sixth on Detroit's all-time scoring list, and seventh on the franchise's all-time minutes list.
